Nikesh Kumar is the son of M.V Raghavan, UDF leader and the leader of the Communist Marxist Party (CMP). His wife's name is Rani and he also has a son and a daughter named Shankaran and Janaki. He has studied at Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum. Mr Kumar's media career began as a news reporter in Asianet which is one of the most popular channels in Kerala. Later he moved on to India Vision which is also another important news channel of Kerala. Nikesh Kumar was also very instrumental in the success of India Vision and was a key person to making the channel famous amongst all the other news channels in Kerala. It is this achievement of his which makes people very sure that Reporter TV news channel will also become a huge success. Nikesh Kumar is also known as the Barkha Dutt of Kerala. While working for India Vision, Mr Kumar has anchored many programs based on contemporary social and political issues. The program called 'Newsnight' which was telecasted daily at 9.00pm on India vision was anchored by Nikesh Kumar. Reports indicate that Newsnight was the most watched news show in the media of Kerala. Mr Kumar then resigned from India Vision in July 2010. Nikesh Kumar will be the managing director and the chief editor of Reporter TV news channel.
