Rathinirvedam is a much-awaited upcoming Malayalam movie which is expected to release in the mid of 2011. The film has the renowned and popular actress Shweta Menon in the lead role with Sreejith Vijay as the hero. Sreejith was last seen in Fazil's hit film 'Living Together'. Shweta Menon is considered as one of the bold and sensual actress of current Malayalam cinema. Directed by TK Rajeev Kumar and produced by G Suresh Kumar under the banner of Revathy Kalaamandhir, Rathinirvedam has already created a lot of hype among the audience and is a much-awaited movie of the year. It is a remake of an old film by the same name which was directed by Bharathan in 1978. It was one of the landmark films in South Indian film industry and has been a great influence on the films that came later in the 1980's. The entire outlook of Malayalam cinema changed with the entry of this film.
The lead roles of the old film were played by Jayabharathi and Krishnachandran and the story revolved around a teenager who fell in love with a woman much older to him. P Padmarajan has written the script for both the versions of Rathinirvedam. The film's shooting began in February 2011 and the main location of the film is at Mavelikkara. The common cast in both the films is K.P.A.C Lalitha who had enacted an important role in the previous version also. Only the basic plot and story of both the versions are same. The new versions has added some additional scenes too according to the desires of the current generation. Since it is a very sensual movie, it might not be very appropriate for the younger generation to watch it and is mainly meant for the mature generations. 
Story of Rathinirvedam Malayalam movie
The theme of the film is very sensual as it shows the feelings that take place in a teenager at the adolescent stage of his life. At such a stage, the person does not listen to his intellect and becomes prey to the hormonal changes that take place sexually within his/her body. The same is shown in this movie where the older woman becomes just an object of fantasy for the teenager. In the new version of Rathinirvedam, Shweta Menon plays the role of Rathi, the older woman and Sreejith plays the role of the teenager by the name Pappu. Both of them live as neighbors in a small village. Pappu lives in this village with his mother whereas his father who is a soldier seldom comes home. Pappu has returned to the village for a vacation after his exams. Pappu gets physically attracted to Rathi and gets irritated when she resists his gestures of friendship and attraction initially. Later, Rathi too gives in and finally both of them consummate on a rainy night. The rest of the story lies in the way both their lives changes dramatically after this consummation. The music for Rathinirvedam has been composed by M Jayachandran and the lyrics for the songs are penned by Murugan Kattakada. The supporting cast of Rathinirvedam include K.P.A.C Lalitha, Maniyan Pilla Raju, Shammi Thilakan, Pakru, Maya Viswanath, Master Kunjan, Baby Ammu and Baby Meera Nair. The camera works of Rathinirvedam have been handled by Manoj Pillai and the art director for the film is Mohandas. Here's hoping that the new version will also create the same sparks as the old version.
