2011 Special Onappookkalam by Spices Board Kochi
Onappookkalam forms an important part of Onam festival in Kerala. Now you may be able to see different types of Onappookkalams in front of the houses of Kerala. In order to welcome the Onam festival 2011, Spices Board had arranged a special Onappookkalam in Kochi. As we all know Onappookkalams are made of flowers. But here instead of flowers, spices were used to make the Onappookkalam beautiful. So now you may be able to understand the fact that this is a special onappookkalam made by Spices Board Kochi. Several spices like cumin, turmeric, fenugreek, fennel, coriander, mint, crushed chillies, green cardamom, black & white pepper, star anise etc. were used to decorate this Onappookkalam.
The Spices Board Chairman A. Jaythilak inaugurated the Onam celebrations. During this function, there was a performance by the folklore group karumthalakoottam.
