After the mixed responses for the multi starrer 'Four Friends', the ace director Saji Surendran is testing his luck with his latest movie titled 'Kunjaliyan'. Jayasurya, who has been the hero in all the movies of Saji is coming in the title role. Ananya is the heroine. Jayasurya is teaming up with Ananya after the movie Positive. Saji Surendran's Ivar Vivahitharayal and Happy Husbands were super hits. Four Friends didn't have a great run at the box office despite the guest appearance of Kamal Hassan. Kunjaliyan will be in the same track of his former films.

Story of Kunjaliyan
As the name suggests, the film tells the story of a young man who has three elder sisters. Often humiliated by his three brother-in-laws, his fate changes instantly when he gets money and fame unexpectedly.
Jayasurya is the young man. His three sisters are portrayed by Bindhu Panikkar, Rashmy Boban and Praseedha. Their husbands are played by Vijayaraghavan, Jagadeesh and Ashokan.
Jayasurya is a lazy young man who are continuously teased by his brother-in-laws, despite the love from his sisters. One day, he leaves home determined to make huge amount of money to get some respect. But he has to return after a few years without any achievement.
However, his close friend played by Suraj Venjaramoodu, spreads the rumor among the people that Jayasurya is returning as a millionaire. The whole village gets amazed and treats Jayasurya as a celebrity. None of the people comes to know the real situation. Once he gets forced to promise an amount of Rs.10 lakhs as donation to a temple festival, what becomes the turning point in the film. The tricky ways adopted by Jayasurya to save his image and escape from this problem form the rest of the story. Ananya plays the lover of him.
The story and screenplay are penned by Krishna Poojappura. Salim Kumar, Biju Menon, Lalu Alex, Nedumudi Venu, KPAC Lalitha, Kalpana and Lekshmi Priya come in other important roles. The music is by MG Sreekumar. Kunjaliyan is a full length comedy film. The film is expected to hit the theatres on 15th December.
