Casanovva is the third film of Mohanlal with Rosshan Andrews. Rosshan's debut film 'Udayananu Taram' and 'Ividam Swargamanu' were the films that witnessed the success of this partnership. It is also the first film of Mohanlal penned by the hitmakers Bobby and Sanjay. They are too on a high note after the success of Traffic. Story and Cast of Casanovva
The film itself is named after the central character Casanovva. Casanovva is a multibillionaire businessman and the owner of Casanovva's Eternal Spring, an international chain of flower boutiques based in Vienna. In personal life, he is like a playboy. He is always surrounded by a group of women including his staff, friends and former girlfriends. They are ready to do anything for him. Casanovva believes that love is the best cure for a crime. So he loves everyone and earns more love from all sides. Nevertheless, this arouses envy and rage in others. The story gets on its full fledge when a gang of four youthful criminals decide to make a money hunt using Casanovva.
Apart from Mohanlal, the movie comes with an ensemble cast. The film will have 5 heroines Shriya Saran, Lakshmi Rai, Roma, Sanjana and Nova Krishnan. Jagathy Sreekumar is appearing as Casanovva's confidant. Tamil star Arya is also making his entry to Malayalam through the film. The film was launched at Confident Cascade, a star hotel of Confident Group, in Bangalore on January 24, 2009. The flamboyant event was attended by film personalities from all parts including Mohanlal, Vishnuvardhan, Arya, Arshad Warsi, Lakshmi Rai, Priyadarshan, Sibi Malayil, Suresh Kumar and the film crew. The shooting of Casanovva was begun on 27 September 2010. Though, it was scheduled to release in February 2011, the unexpected incidents delayed it. Casanovva has got a whooping budget of Rupees 20 Crores nearly. The film has 4 songs and 17 fight sequences including the amazing Helicopter fights. Casanovva is the first Malayalam film shot in locations like Emirates Palace and Burj Khalifa. About 50 super modern cars get used in the film. For the movie, Mohanlal had to take driving license in Dubai. Gowri Lakshmi, a teenage girl has written a song for the film. The soundtrack of Casanovva was released on 6th December 2011. The film has four songs composed by Gopi Sundar, Alphons Joseph and Gowri Lakshmi. The lyrics were penned by late Gireesh Puthenchery, Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma, Jelujay, Gowri Lakshmi, Rosshan and Sanjay. Gowri Lakshmi, a teenage girl is making her entry to Malayalam cinema through a mega budget Superstar film. The theme song composed by Gopi Sundar was released in 2009. It became an instantaneous hit. The background score also has been composed by him.
According to the latest reports, Casanovva is scheduled to make a grand release worldwide in more than 400 theaters in January, 2012. The film will hit around 200 screens in Kerala along with those in the metros like Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and others.
Undoubtedly, the expectations are very much high, taking in to account the hype and response the Mohanlal movie getting before its release. So we can hope for a thunderstorm at the box office.
