Potato stew recipe in kerala style

Potato stew is a typical Kerala dish commonly used as combo with Appam or Idiyappam for breakfast. Its colour, sweet aroma and non-spicy ingredients make it so special that it has become part of our very own special dishes. Here I am presenting before you the method of its preparation.

Potato stew for appam

Ingredients:

  • Potato - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1 cup
  • Ginger cut into small pieces - 1.5 tsp
  • Green chillies split into two halves - 2 or 3
  • Curry leaves - as needed
  • Salt - to taste
  • First coconut milk - 1 cup
  • Second coconut milk - 1 cup
  • Coconut oil - 1 tsp(optional)

  • Method of preparation:

  • Pour second coconut milk into a pressure cooker. Cut potato and onion into small pieces and add it to the cooker along with green chillies, ginger and salt to taste.
  • Cook the above mixture. Just one whistle is necessary.
  • When pressure drops to zero, open the lid and add first coconut milk.
  • When it starts just to boil, add curry leaves and oil and put the flame off.

  • This simple stew goes well with appam and idiyappam and very easy to prepare with less number of ingredients. We can make its alternative by adding carrot, beans, cauliflower or its combinations to it, according to individual preferences.

Now i started to know how to prepare dishes with the help of spiderkerala. I can see good veg dishes and easy to prepare.

I realised the importance when is was in USA for few months. It was a difficult time for me. As i do not know how to cook. Morover the dishes they prepare was not at all taste for me. So i decided i should learn few dishes.

But recently when i joined spiderkerala...we can see lot of different dishes to prepare & very tasty to eat. Sometime it will not come good, but when we try one more time its good.

Some people give step by step to prepare the dishes.

    Thanks a lot
