First Time Chief Minister addressed the Republic day Parade

First time in the history of Kerala and perhaps amongst all the states in India the Chief Minister of Kerala addressed the Republic parade of this year. Republic day Parade will be addressed by the President at National Capital and the Governors in the States Capitals.

There are two functions held every year in the capital of the Nation at New Delhi and capitals of the States to celebrate the freedom and the formation of Republic. One is the Republic day Parade and the other is the Independence day celebration.

In the National capital on the Republic day on the 26th January of every year the Republic day parade will be held. This will be addressed by the President of India and Independence day address 15th of August every year will be by the Prime Minister.

In the States capitals the Independence day will be addressed by the Chief Ministers and the Republic day in the States capitals will be addressed by the Governors of the states.

For the first time in the history of Kerala State and perhaps the among all the states of the Country, the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy addressed the Republic Parade for the year 2012 yesterday (26-01-2012).

Few days back the Governor of Kerala M O H Farooq went on leave for treatment of his illness (he died on 26th January 2012) and the Governor of Karnataka HR Bharadwaj was given additional charge Kerala for the time being. Governor Bharadwaj attended the parade and addressed the Republic Parade of Karnataka at Bengaluru.

On the special permission of the President Oommen Chandy the Chief Minister of Kerala attended the Republic day Parade on behalf of the President of India.
