Asia's biggest shopping festival & signature show by Kerala Tourism Department, the 5th edition of the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival 2011(GKSF) begins on 1 December 2011. This is a 45 day event that starts on 1 December 2011 & ends by 15 January 2012. Dr Rethan Kelkar(Additional Tourism Director & Director of Grand Kerala Shopping Festival) announced that the inaugural function will be taking place in Kochi on 1 December 2011.
We, the people of Kerala, should be proud of this moment due to the fact that our god's own country was the first in India to promote such a mega shopping festival. This shopping festival is designed in such a way by the Kerala Tourism Department so as to give a real shopping experience. While visiting this Grand Kerala Shopping Festival 2011, popularly known as the GKSF 5, it will definitely give an opportunity for the visitors to explore the crafts, culture, customs, art & architecture of our Kerala state. So by this, you will be able to feel the real Kerala.
As the name indicates, the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival 2011 will definitely attract tourists from different parts of the world thereby making this event one of the biggest shopping destinations of not only our country but the whole world. GKSF was started in the year 2007 & till now it was a successful event. Another fact is that the objective of this GKSF is to make our god's own country an international shopping destination so as to promote the tourism as well as traditional products of Kerala. The entire event is managed by our Kerala state government but the organizers include the tourism department in connection with the finance, industries & revenue department. Remember that GKSF 2011 is the correct place for your shopping festival.
