There is a section there which is dedicated to Raja Ravi Varma who had carved a niche for himself and is known to be one of the best in the whole world. Raja ravi Varma's paintings adorn the Front galleries and is the most important feature of this Sri Chitra Art Gallerey. He is very much known to paint pictures which look so natural that we expect them to speak to us. Raja Ravi Varma was also known as Prince among the painters and the Painter among the princes.

The Sri Chitra Art gallery has a coolection of Paintings belonging to the Rajputs, Rajasthanis and the Mughal eras as well as a vast collection of beautiful paintings which come from Japan, China and Indonesia.

How to Reach Sri Chithra Art Gallery


You have to reach either Thiruvananthpuram airport or the railway station first. Thiruvananthapuram being the capital city of Kerala is well connected with the rest of the country India.

Many of the airlines like Indian Airlines, Jet airways and Kingfisher connects the city to the rest of India. Thiruvananthapuram is also connected by trains from almost all the cities, like Mumbai, Delhi, Jammu, Kolkatta with Chennai Hyderabad and Bangalore. As soon as you reach Thiruvananthpuram you can hire cabs or autos to reach the Gallery.

The Art Gallery is open from 10 am to 5 pm on all working days except on wednesday when it is open only in the afternoon that is 1.00pm - 4.45 pm Wednesday
On other days the art gallery is open to all visitors
