You can also have a journey through the railways. The Ernakulam Railway junction is only 15 km from the Museum of Kerala History. With the name which itself means this is a treasure of Kerala tradition and civilization, the Museum of Kerala Art and History is only one of it's kind in Kerala. It depicts the history of 'God's own country' from the Neolithic to the Modern age.

The light and sound show in 'Museum of Kerala History' is the most spectacular one. This live show provides you to the insight of golden history of Kerala since the last 2000 years. The description of the tableus are provided in both English and Malayalam, the local language. The wide descriptions of the life shows narrates different landmarks of the state in all cultural and traditional fields. The one hour show includes 87 life-sized concrete sculptures and 36 colourful visuals.

The sculpture of sage Parashurama, the sixth sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, at the entrance is really magnificant. He is believed to be the retriever of lands of Kerala from the Arabian sea.

The paintings by Raja Ravi Varma, Mammiyoor Krishnan Kutty Nair and other lesser known artists is another treat make you delight. The gallery also hosts Mural paintings of Classical Sanskrit drama Shakuntalam.

The Doll Museum has more than 150 dolls describing the culture and diversity of India. This is only the one of it's kind in India. There are other dolls which describes the classical heritage of India.

Entry fee: You have to pay a small entry fee for entering into different sections of the museum. The details are as given below;

Museum Timings: The Museum is open throughout the year except Monday and Public holidays. The general timings for the museum is from 10 am to 5 pm.

Light And Sound Shows Timings: The one hour light and sound show is held throughout the day in the following timings;10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30 12:00, 14:00, 14:30, 15:00 15:30, 16:00.
