Best time to Visit : Avoid your tour during Summer season as you will feel uncomfortable. It will be better to plan during October to March.




Tourist Attractions In Kuttanad

Sandwiched between the sea and the hills, Kuttanad will give you the most exotic trip to Kerala. Kuttanad is best know as the "Rice bowl of Kerala". The enchanting waterways composed of lakes, canals, rivers and rivulets will give you the glimpses of Kerala life style. The Kerala style homes, churches, temples, and green paddy fields are the most attractive sites you can see in Kuttanad. And Kuttanad is becoming a hot spot in the tourism map of Kerala. This one among the rare places in the world where rice cultivation is below sea level.

There are more than five rivers flowing through Kuttanad. Pamba, Manimala and Achankovil are the three most important rivers here. You can also have the visit to Vembanad lake.



How to Reach Kuttanad

Kuttanad is easily accessible by train, airways and roads. The Thiruvananthapuram International airport and Cochin International airport are the two airports. The former is about 125 km away and the later is 90 km away. Alappuzha and Changanashwery railway stations are the nearest railway stations. Kuttanad is also having a good road network. The National Highway 47 from Harippad to Alappuzha is going through this place. You can catch bus and taxis to reach the place. The Alappuzha-Changanassery road is the best one you can choose. This is very close to Kuttanad and has more scenic spots to offer you during the trip. But the boat service is the most enjoyable one for you. You can get boats in the Alappuzha - Edathua - Ambalappuzha route covering Kuttanad. The boat cruise to Kuttanad through the backwaters of Kerala will make you feel fresh taking to the village life and scenic beauties lined along the coastal Kuttanad.
