Idukki is a district of Kerala. Its district headquarter is Painavu. It has an area of 4998 square kilometer.Its municipality is Thodupuzha. The Taluks of the districts are Peerumedu, Udumban chola, Devikulam and Thodupuzha. Kattapana, Thodupuzha and Nedungandam are the major towns of the district

Idukki is one of the most popular tourist location in Kerala.It is a hilly district which is known for its natural beauty and cool climate.Bounded by the Sahya mountain range ,decorated with dense forests and the rivers had made this place in to a paradise for the foreign tourists. There are about forteen mountains in this mountain range. Most of the areas are covered with dense forests. The climate is generally cool here. There is a severe cold at winter season here.

Periyar National Park

Periyar National park is a popular wild life sanctuary in Kerala. The dense forests and the lake developed by the British is the major attraction of this place. This is located at the place Thekady. This park was developed by the ruler Sri Chithirathirunal in the year of 1934. This park has an area of 777 square kilometers. There are about thousands of elephants are here. The tourists can enjoy the charming beauty of the forest from the boat on the lake.

Many resorts and hotels are here for the accomodation of the tourists. Boating facilities are available here. The tourists can walk inside the jungle and enjoy the views. Experienced guides are available to lead the tourists through the jungle. We can reside in a observation tower or resthouse inside the jungle. Thekady is a favorable tourist spot for those who likes adventure. The most suitable climate to visit the forest is from September to May.

Munnar

It is one of the most popular tourist destination in Kerala. The Tourists can feel the charming beauty and salubrious climate of this place.
The hill station has many adventures to offer such as boating in the reservoirs of many dams, elephant safari, trekking, camping and wildlife safaris in the jungles and sanctuary.
