Causes of Sabarimala Tragedy 2011
The truth behind Sabarimala Tragedy 2011 was unveiled in a report given by State Forest Department.
According to the reports from State Forest Department, the rift between taxi drivers and devotees is the prime cause of the stampede taking a toll of 102 lives.
The tragedy took place after the Makara Jyothi when the devotees came to Pulumedu to take taxis for their return journey. But auto drivers and jeep drivers started to quarrel each other for money and meanwhile a jeeb had lost the control and ploughed into a the devotees. This provoked the devotees to attack all the vehicles parked there. During this time an auto rickshaw overturned and this made panic among the devotees. People started to run all over the place through the narrow path. Most of the shop owners didn't' give the devotees a shelter inside the shop and that made the situation even worse.
Government has ordered for a Judicial enquiry on the Sabarimala tragedy.
