Kerala State Film Development Corporation ltd (KSFDC) came to existence during 1975. The main objective of KSFDC was promotion of Malayalam cinema. KSFDC could transplant the Malayalam film industry from Chennai to Kerala. It was the organizers of International Film Festival of Kerala and founded Chithranjali studio. KSFDC is the production agency for documentary and short educational films
Chithranjali Studio
is established in 1980's by the Kerala State Development Corporation and is located in Thivallam. The studio is the second largest sound proof indoor area in Asia. It is equipped with most modern equipments and has facilities for processing and printing 35 mm, 16 mm colour and B/W films. The studio is equipped with outdoor film units, film processing laboratories, dubbing and preview theaters. The recording theater is manned by qualified staff with proven track record in their profession. A large number of films, made here, earned national and international fames. The corporation owns about ten theaters through out the state. Some among them used to be the venue for International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
It had a preview theatre meant of previews before selected audience and has a capacity of 100 viewers.
