Sabarimala Temple opens on 17 October 2011
For the 5 day monthly rituals in the Malayalam month Thulam that begins on 18 October 2011, the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa Temple will be opened on 17 October 2011. On Monday 17 October 2011, there won't be any rituals at the temple. But at 5:30 PM on 17 October 2011, the Melsanthi Ezhikode Sasi Namboodiri will open the sanctum sanctorum. On 18 October 2011, Tantri Kandararu Maheswararu, assisted by the Melsanthi Ezhikode Sasi Namboodiri will perform the Sahasrakalasabhishekom. It should be noted that this Sahasrakalasabhishekom & Kalabhabhishekom will be performed on all 5 days prior to the Utchapuja.
Some important rituals that will be performed during the monthly puja include Padipuja, Ashtabhishekom, Pushpabhishekom & Udayasthamanapuja respectively.
