Introduction
Baselios Mathews II College of Engineering is a professional college situated in Sasthamcotta of Kollam district. This college is popularly known as BMCE. The college was established in the year 2002. BMCE is named after its founder, Late H H Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Mathews II, the sixth Catholicons of the East and the Malankara Metropolitan of Malankara Orthodox Church. It is a self- financing Engineering college managed by Dr. C T Eapen Trust under Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and is affiliated to University of Kerala. The present principal of BMCE is Dr. E. Vasudevan Nampoothiri.
BMCE is one of the excellent higher educational institution in the district. English is the medium of instruction here. BMCE concentrates on both the social and emotional growth of their students. It has a green and cool ambience and is situated very close to the only fresh water lake of Kerala. Life at BMCE is not only stuck with studies, there is much more than that. Baselios Mathews II College of Engineering offers six branches of under graduate Engineering course to its students. These six courses are Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The duration of each course is four years comprising of eight semesters. Any student who has passed the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or 12th Standard V.H.S.E., I.S.C., C.B.S.E. or any other equivalent exam can apply for admission in this college. College Hostel
The college being a mixed college, provides separate hostel facilities to both boys and girls. The boys hostel is within the college premises and the girls hostel is little far away from the college compound. The girls hostel is on the road side itself. The college owns eight college buses for its students to access the college easily. As the college is located very close to a junction by the name “Bharanikavu", both private buses and public buses are also available. The nearest railway station is Karunagapally railway station. Other Facilities
BMCE administration is very keen on providing good infrastructural facilities to their students. The other facilities offered by the college includes Canteen, Library, Seminar Hall and Conference Room, Labs and so on. The cafeteria at BMCE supplies traditional Keralite dishes.
