How To Reach Wayanad by Air

Although Wayanad doesn't hold any airports, travel by airways is not hindered. The nearest airport is the Karipur International Airport. This is situated in the Malappuram district of Kerala state. This is also known by the name Kozhikode International Airport, although it is not in Kozhikode district. Wayanad is just 100 km away from the airport. Air services are available to the important Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. Direct flights are also available from Karipur to many gulf countries like Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. You can also move to Kochin International Airport. It is only 181 km from Kozhikode. Kochi airport is having more air services compared to Kozhikode. From Kozhikode, there are many bus services and taxis that will take you to this "Green paradise".

How To Reach Wayanad by Rail

Similar to airways, Wayanad doesn't have any railways. The nearest railway station is the Kozhikode Railway Station. Railway station is about 100 km away from Wayanad. This is one of the main railhead in North Kerala. The station is having frequent direct services to nearby cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Trivandrum and Kochi. Almost all the main trains stops here.

How To Reach Wayanad by Road

Wayanad has a well connected roadways to the main cities and towns. Wayanad is the link that connects the Malabar region in Kerala to nearby States like Karnataka. The Kozhikode - Mysore National Highway 212 (NH 212) passes through Wayanad district. There are frequent bus services owned by private and state. The state owned buses(KSRTC) are abundant in the route. You can also choose buses according to your suits- ordinary, limite stop, town to town, super fast, past passenger, A/c or non- A/c. The excellent road network links Wayanad with places like Kannur (98 km), Ooty (115 km) and Mysore (142 km). Many public super fast buses connect Wayanad with Kochi (282 km) and Mangalore. Deluxe bus services are also available from Chennai (589 km), Bangalore (282 km) and Trivandrum (497 km). Bus services to other states are also conducted by Karnataka state buses too.

How to Travel from Railway station/ Airport to Wayanad
From the Kozhikode railway station you can take a taxi to Wayanad. It you want to travel by bus, take a taxi/ auto to KSRTC / private bus stand. Similarly, there are taxi services available in the Airport too. If you are choosing the private buses, bus services to Wayanad is available from the new bus stand only. But thee is only one KSRTC Stand in Kozhikode and you will get the bus very easily from this stand. It is better to travel by means of KSRTC.
