Cherai Beach

Cherai beach is a famous beach located in Cochin. Cherai beach is a clean and shallow beach. It is one of the famous beaches for swimming and sunbathing. The Cherai beach is about 10 Kms long and life guards are always there to help the visitors along the shores. We can see lot of coconut trees near the Cherai beach. One of the specialty of Cherai beach is that dolphins are usually seen here.

How to reach Cherai beach

Cherai beach is located in Cherai (Vypin) a town in Ernakulam district. The beach is about 25 Km from Ernakulam city. The nearest towns from Cherai Beach are North paravur and Kodungallur. The nearest railway stations are Aluva railway station (20 Kms) and Ernakulam railway station (30Kms). The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport which is about 35 Kms from Cherai beach.

Attractions near Cherai beach

Cherai Gowreeshwara Temple: It is one of the famous temples in Ernakulam district. The festival in this temple is in the end of January and it ends in the middle of February.

Portuguese Fort: The Portuguese fort built here was actually an outpost for securing the Mussiris Port.

Pallipuram Church: The Pallipuram church is an ancient church built by the Portuguese in 1577. The festival in Pallipuram church is conducted in the month of August every year.

Munambam Beach: Munambam beach is a beach with all modern facilities which was opened recently for the tourists. Its having walkways and playgrounds for the entertainment activities of tourists.
