Oommen Chandy, the present leader of opposition and former chief minister of Kerala, from the Indian National Congress(INC) is all believed to lead the next Kerala government after the Assembly elections this year. The present Achuthananthan government that came into power with a lot of hopes had given a miserable life to the state. This story of disaster is giving a lesson to the fore coming governments also. Let us see the major areas should be concerned.Education sector
The biggest failure of the government was in education sector. What ever touched by the minister MA Baby, turned out to be big problems. He was questioned by the Private managements and minority leaders for trying to take away their rights and trying to invade into their institutions by using the loop holes. This resulted in wide spread protest. The self financing institutions regulating bill turned out to be a big shame for the government, as the court deleted the major clauses and in a sense, the 'essence' of the law. The curriculum modifications, KER modifications, Cluster idea of colleges, Higher education council were also invited widespread protests. In all these issues, Oommen Chandy stood against the government. So in the next government this education sector will be the big challenge for Oommen chandy. He should be able to form an educational policy both accepted for the private agencies and also aimed at social welfare.Developments
A lot of developmental activities now lacks the momentum. Road expansions, Railway developments and other industrial sectors are there among these. But the major problem is regarding the existence of Kochi Smart city project. The project which was the idea of Oommen chandy, still remains in the papers, due to the lack of interest by the government and due to the problems regarding rights about the acquired land. Hope the next Oommen chandy government clear all these hurdles and make this project a reality.Agriculture
Agrarian sector in kerala faces big threat to its existence due to the increasing loses and the inadequacies of the earnings to make the life move. The increasing cost of life and continuing loses from agrarian sector had made many to withdraw. The increasing cost of production and lose of crops due to diseases and unexpected rainfall dumps the poor farmers into big loses and debts. In kuttanad, farmers are having a constant story of loses. Even then the Kuttanad project, Suggested by Dr. MS Swaminathan and approved by the central government is yet to be implemented due to the lack of interest of the state government. The next government by Oommen chandy should give prior weightage for this and should try to implement this project without any time delay. Farmers should be given adequate compensation for the loses. It should be able to convince the intensity of the loses to the central government and avail fare compensations.Law and Order
The criminal cases, Corruptions, Harassment against women are increasing day by day. All those who questions this when they are in opposition, forgets all while ruling. The same should not happen with Oommen chandy government. He should be able to take immediate actions and check all these unwanted crimes.
