Karunakaran's four decades of political carrier.
A long political journey
Our Late Shri Karunakaran, had left behind an excellent and remarkable political carrier in the span of 40 years of his life. He is the architect of coalition politics in Kerala. The present UDF front is Mr. Karunakarn's brain child. He was an asset for the Indian National Congress. The Kerala political history says that the Communist -led govt. which swept the 1967 assembly electon was pulled down by Shri Karunakarn. He became a Dy. Chief Minister and then the State Home minister under a CPI Chief Minister (Remember Sri C. Achuthamenon ministry. For almost 40 years, the kerala political scenario was revolved largely around the "LEADER". It is also to be noted that the delveopment works carried out by him made Karunakaran a close loyalist and a confidant of the Congress central party leadership. It is also to be mentioned that the International airport in Nedumbassery would not have become a reality without his active leadership.
However, the untimely exit from the parent party which was grown in Kerala along with his political life and the police brutality during Emergency (1975-77)(remember the police custodial death of the engineering student Rajan)were remains to be black spots in his political carrier.
