Mobile Number Portability is going to introduce in Kerala by the last of January 2011. This feature helps the subscibers to change their network without changing their previous number. BSNL announced that the feature will commence on January last week. This feature was first introduced in Haryana and they got a good start there. After its introduction in Haryana on 24th November 2010, almost 1,40,000 people applied for that, but 50,000 of them got rejected and only 80,000 people got that service. If the subscriber is ready to spent Rs.19, then he can change to his favourite network and preserve his mobile number. Many of the service providers are giving good offers nowadays to hold back their customers, but once MNP is entertained, most of them surely goes for it.Advantages of Mobile Number Portability
- By introducing Mobile Number Portability, the subscriber can change his network with out changing his number.

How to Use Mobile Number Portability
First, The subscribers have to sent an SMS to the operators for MNP to their network. Then the network operators will process your SMS and resend you a code which is of Alpha-numerical. Then the customer has to confirm the code and must sent again to the operator for verification. Then the operators will verify the identity and address of the user. The customer also have to fill up a customer acquisition form and have to submit to the operator. Then the operator will respond to you before 24 hours and you can enjoy the facility.Vital Information for the Subscribers
- MNP facility shall be available only within a given licensed service area. If any subscriber needs to change his network while roamimg, then MNP is not possible. One have to switch networks in the same area where their existing mobile number is registered.
- MNP also entertains a new rule called 3 month rules: One have to wait for 3 months for MNP to activate once again after activating MNP for the last time. This rule will be very strictly followed by TRAI.Companies which got License for MNP
