Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary
Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, located at Rajamalley is a favourite destination of nature lovers. Almost all the regions in Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is influenced by south west monsoon climate. Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary was announced as a national park in the year 1975. This national park mainly focus on preservation of Nilgri Tahr. Beautiful grasslands enriched with fabulous greenery had grabbed hearts of visitors.
Versatile orchids present in Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary adorns this tourist place and widens the interest of tourists. Nilgiri Tahr,elephants, langur, tigers and leopards are some of the animals preserved in Eravikulam National Park. Studies say that, Eravikulam National Park is the homeland for about 138 species of birds. Kerala laughing thrush, Nilgiru wood pegion and white bellied shortwing are some of the bird species found in this national park. You can also find here about 19 species of amphibians and over a hundred species of butterfly species.
