'Rock Theme Park' to come up in Kerala
There's Fantasy Park, Dreamworld, Silver Storm, Veegaland, Wonderla, Vismaya theme park. But there has never been a rock theme park in India, and Kerala has the privilege of being the first to have ne. A small introduction to the park and its history
The tourists of Kerala will now have an extra tourist spot to visit, aand the tourism sector will have an added attraction to add to the brochures of Kerala. Kollam, will now boast a 'Rock Theme Park' at Chadayamangalam. The 1000-feet high rock cluster in the southern part of Kerala is believed to have a close contact with history. The project, which is a public-private joint venture, will revolve around a statue of 'Jatayu' in the centre.
It is believed that the mythical character 'Jatayu' in the epic Ramayana, had fallen on to this rock, after the loss of his wings by the ten-headed evil Ravana. The wings were cut, using the sword 'Chandrahasam', as the bird was trying to block 'Pushpaka Vimanam' in which Ravana was coercively carrying Sita.. The rock, 'Jatayupara' is named after the bird.
The park is believed to be built with a blend of ecological and epic tourism, and the state government has recently come up with the idea of the theme park on the rocky terrain, with the 'sacred rock' as its theme
