A permanent art gallery will be established inside the Arakkal Palace Museum that houses arts from the erstwhile Muslim principality. On Thiruvonam day (9 September 2011), the art gallery will be opened to the visitors. As part of the inauguration, about 30 paintings of 18 artists will be exhibited. The paintings will depict the history of Malabar region & the contemporary issues. It should be noted that the exhibition starts at 3 PM on Friday.
The Arakkal Palace Museum was established in the year 2005. The art gallery will be established inside the famous Arakkal Palace Museum, that is located in a renovated 200 year old building which forms part of the Arakkal Kettu(Seat of Arakkal Royal House). Also note that this art gallery will come up on the ground floor as well as top floor of the two storeyed building. This is definitely an Onam gift to the tourists who visit this museum. In collaboration with the Kerala Folklore Akademi, some programmes will also be held in this gallery.
