It should be noted that this park was spread over 110 acres of forest area that consists mainly of Teak plantations & was started in the year 1997.
When taking into consideration the Palakkad town, this park is located at about 22kms from this town. Definitely this will be a tourist centre where one can see different animals roaming in their natural habitat.
Facilities for elephant safari will also be made available in this park. Another main attraction is the Walayar dam that is located very close to this park. Another fact to remember is that Walayar is the gateway to Kerala or God's own country. Apart from small animals, there are 47 deers & 10 stag in this park. As a part of converting the deer park into a safari park, there will be reduction in the area of animal movement, removal of teak trees, fodder cultivation etc. In order to prevent the attack from wild elephants & leopard, the compound wall & fencing will be strengthened.
