Swadeshabhimani award for M P Veerendrakumar

Eminent Writer and Matrubhumi group chairman M P Veerendrakumar has been selected for the Swadeshabhimani award 2011. The award is in recognition of his contribution to the field of journalism and as the head of a media organisation. The award includes a cash prize of 25,000 rupees, citation an a memento and it will be presented by Defence minister A K Antony in a coming function in the third week of October.

Kerala CM Oommen Chandy, chairperson of Swadeshabhimani Smaraka Samithi, told during the press releas that Veerendrakumar was selected for his services in all fields of journalism, including management. Veerendra Kumar is the CMD of Matrubhumi group of newspapers and Chairman of the Press Trust of India. Earlier recipients of the award include writers A P Udhayabhanu, R M Manakkalath, V K Madhavan Kutty, N Ramachandran, M S Mani, P Govinda Pillai and publisher D C Kizhakkemuri.

Johny Lukose is selected for the best presenter of s social relevant television programme award for anchoring the event 'Nere Chovve' in Manorama News. He is also the head of editorial wing of this channel.The Thiruvananthapuram bureau reporter of Madhyamam Daily, A bagged the award for the best print journalist. The series 'Thottikalude desam puramlokathode parayunnathu', fetched him the award comprising Rs 10,000, citation and statute. Shaju V of Malayala Manorama and Rajesh Rajendran of Janyugam shared the Swadeshabhimani photography award.
