In Pathanamthitta district, the annual Navaratri festival started at various places of worship. It should be noted that the festival at Thiruvalla Govindankulangara Devi temple started when the Melsanthi lighted a ceremonial lamp at the Yajnasala. There will be classical music & dance programs on all the nine days. On 6 October 2011, the Vidyarambhom ceremony will be held at 9:00 AM followed by a Chandika Homom & Kumaripuja. The festival at Muthoor Bhadrakali temple near Thiruvalla was inaugurated by cinema director Blessy on 28 September 2011. The temple Devaswom committee president K. Padmakumar presided over the function. Akeeramon Kalidasa Bhattathiri, president of the Yogakshema Sabha, lighted the ceremonial lamp for a Navaaha Yajnom. The rituals associated with this Navaratri festival were also held at places like Aerankavu Bhagavathy Temple Kavumbhagom, Mutharamman Kovil in Pathanamthitta town, Navaratri Mandapam at Pandalam town & Manippuzha Devi temple near Thiruvalla respectively.

On 2 October 2011, nadaswarom exponent Thiruvizha Jayasankar will inaugurate the annual Omalloor Vijayadasami music festival at the cooperative bank auditorium at Omalloor in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala state, India. The public meeting will be inaugurated by K. Sivadasan Nair MLA. But P. Venugopal(district collector) will deliver the keynote address. During this occasion, Mr Jayasankar will be felicitated & on 6 October 2011, the music festival will conclude with a sangeetharchana.
