Wildlife Week Celebrations at Thekkady: 2 October 2011- 8 October 2011
The wildlife week celebrations will be held at Thekkady from 2 October 2011- 8 October 2011. In order to celebrate the wild life week, elaborate arrangements have been made. P. R. Suresh, the deputy director of Periyar Tiger Reserve (West Division) inaugurated the forest & environment protection Yatra that was taken out from Vallakkadavu on 30 September 2011. As part of the celebrations, exhibition of documentaries, poster writing competitions, arts & cultural contests will be held at the Vanasree auditorium.
On 2 October 2011, water color painting, quiz(individual), pencil drawing competitions, elocution, documentary show for high school as well as college students will be organized. It should be noted that all the programs will start at 9:00 AM. Ganamela, light music, recitation competitions & folk songs (group) will be held on 3 October 2011. Competitions in oppana, thiruvathira, bharathanatyam & folk dance will be organized on 4 October 2011. There will be different categories like the upper primary, high school, college & club categories for those competitions. Interested candidates should register their names at the reception committee office functioning at the panchayat building in Thekkady junction. On 8 October 2011, seminars, road shows & awareness campaigns will be organized as part of the state level competitions.
