Kerala becomes India's first total banking state

It is another feather to the cap of State's financial scenario as the State became the first total banking state in the country. The declaration was made as every household in all the 14 stricts in the state having at least one bank account and the facility for need-based credit. This achievement is in response of State Level Bankers', a joint forum of major banks operating in the state, last four year effort to ring banking services to all quarters of the state. Palakkad district in the state had already become the first district in the country to achieve total financial inclusion four years ago.
Kerala Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy during his address to the bankers told that this achievement is yet another feather in the cap of state's financial scenario/ He also included that the banks have a lot more things to do for the state and its people. They should shed their conservative approach and contribute more to the expedite development process in the state and the support of banks to education, infrastructure, tourism abd healthcare should also be accelerated.The Chief Minister also said that the state was all set to brand itself as an equity in the development front through the forthcoming `Emerging Kerala' and urged all the concerned to create a new atmosphere and culture in the state. He also distributed certificates to the banks participated in this project.
