Prof M. K. Sanu, the famous literary critic as well as writer in Malayalam language has been chosen for the 2011 Padmaprabha literary award. The Kalpetta based Padmaprabha memorial trust have instituted this Padmaprabha literary award that carries a memento, citation & cash prize of Rs 55,000. The jury members were Dr S Saradakutty, Rafeeq Ahamed & Dr Punathil Kunhabdulla respectively. Due to the great contribution made by Prof M. K. Sanu in the field of Malayalam literature & teaching field, he was selected for this prestigious Padmaprabha award.

From the childhood itself, Prof M. K. Sanu got the chance to read several fairy tales & Panchathantra tales. One of his influenced book was 23 tales by Tolstoy. He enjoyed reading this book & even told the stories to others also. He was also interested in reading the poems of great poet Kumaranasan. Some of his important works include Karmagathi, Changambuzha- Nakshathrangalude Snehabhajanam etc. This great writer had won several awards including the Vayalar award in his career. Prof M. K. Sanu was awarded vayalar ramavarma award in 1992 for the work Changambuzha- Nakshathrangalude Snehabhajanam .
