English Olympiad 2011 at Kanakakunnu Palace on 25 October 2011
English Olympiad 2011 hosted by the DCE (District Centre for English) , Neyyattinkara in association with the Hindu will be held at the Kanakakunnu Palace on 25 October 2011. This is an important event that is mainly designed to encourage children to use English language for their daily classroom activities. The important feature of this event is that in order to participate in this English Olympiad 2011, about 200 students were selected from 3 educational districts. The function will be inaugurated by Mayor K. Chandrika. The valedictory session will be inaugurated at 4:30 PM on 25 October 2011 by the Minister of Education, P. K. Abdu Rabb. The Department of General Education with the support of the English & Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad established this DCE in the year 1999. Another fact is that this DCE had won the national award for the best teacher training institute in India for innovative practices from NCERT, New Delhi.
The items for competitions are choreography, skit, group discussion, film review & comic presentation. Another highlight of this event is the best speaker award instituted for teachers. Apart from this there will be an exhibition of English classroom products.
