One day film festival at Kerala Sahitya Academy on 26th October


Navachithra film society is organising a one day film festival on 26th October, the Diwali day. Four international films will be screened at Kerala Sahitya Academy. The show will be from 10 am to 9 pm. Read more details of the festival in the article.

Cinema is always a wonder for the man. No other art form has been able to amaze and attract the man as much as cinema.

Here is an oppurtunity for the lovers of good films to have a look on four good films. Navachitra Film Society is organising a one day film festival on 26th October. Four of widely recognised foriegn films will be displayed at the Kerala Sahitya Academy. The films are City of God (Portugese), In a Better World (Swedish), The Experiment (German) and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (English). The show is from 10 am to 9 pm.

City of God is the Golden Globe winning film of 2003. Directed by Fernando Meireles, the gangster film portrays the growth and tales of Drug Mafia of Rio de Jeniro in 1960-80 period.

In a Better World is a family drama film directed by Suzane Beir. It tells the story of two families and the friendship of its members. It has won the Best Foriegn Language film awards at Oscars and Golden Globes.

The Experiment is the debut film of German director Oliver Hirtchbeegel. It is based on a famous experiment carried out in Stanford Prison in 1971.
The film The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada is the portrayal of lives on the US-Mexican border that is always under the shadow of racial unrest and emmigrational problems. Tomy Lee Jones is the director and lead actor of the film. He has won the Best Actor award at Cannes Festival for the performance in this film.
