As part of the diamond jubilee celebrations, the Medical College Thiruvananthapuram is organizing an event named Erudite Conclave 2011 on 8 November 2011 & 9 November 2011. This event brings together important persons from various fields like education, art, science & culture so that they can share expertise, knowledge as well as excellence achieved by them. But this two day event is restricted to about 600 delegates from different institutions. Another important feature of this event is that it will have debates, sessions regarding problem solving & talks by some eminent scientists as well as Nobel laureates. Some of the important personalities who will share their thoughts at the Erudite Conclave 2011 include

Among the above mentioned persons, Sanduk Ruit is a Nepal born ophthalmic surgeon who made cataract surgery affordable to the poor in the developing countries. In 2006 he was given the Magsaysay award for developing an intraocular lens with low prize that made the cataract surgery affordable for poor people. So in his session, Dr Sanduk Ruit will talk about his successful journey that started from a remote hilly district in Nepal. As most people know, Balabhaskar is a gifted violinist who will talk here his life & journey as a musician. Ananda Shankar Jayant is a famous classical dancer & choreographer, who was awarded the Padma Shri award. Here she will talk about how dance influenced her during the toughest time of her life as she battled cancer.

But Rolf M Zinkernagel , the professor in experimental immunology of Zurich University had shared the 1996 Nobel prize in medicine/physiology with Peter C Doherty for their discovery of how the body's immune system recognizes infected cell. It should be noted that the delegates of this event will have the chance to win a book autographed by the Nobel prize laureate. During this event he will share the different levels of experimentations especially the ups & downs. Professor Anil K Gupta is a professor of IIM Ahmedabad & he founded the honeybee network that gives recognition to the grassroot level innovators. Dr Rengaswamy Sankaranarayanan has several years of experience in cancer control & cancer control.

Apart from all this, some important sessions expected at this event include the making of a bionic eye & the methods used to conquer cancer in the early stages before it strikes. The important topics selected for the cross science solutions are how the screening for cervical cancer can be improved & the issues of waste management in Thiruvananthapuram respectively. The event will be judged by a panel of experts.
