Thrissur International Film Festival 2011 begins on 18th November


The 6th Thrissur International Film Festival (TIFF) will begin on 18th November 2011. The film fest will last to 24th. TIFF is the second largest film fest in Kerala, behind the government sponsored IFFK. The film fest will present more than 70 films. Read more details below.

The 6th edition of Thrissur International Film Festival (TIFF), the second best film festival in Kerala, will commence on 18th November. The film festival will last for a week, ending on 24th November. The delegate registration was inaugurated on 3rd November by director Lenin Rajendran giving the first pass to singer Gayathri. The delegate pass will cost Rs. 300. Students will get pass for Rs. 150.

The film festival is organised at Kairali-Sree theatres. TIFF is organised by Janasamskara with the co operation of Thrissur Corporation and District Panchayath.

More than 70 feature-documentary films from 18 countries will be exhibited in the fest. The films of Mihalis Kakogiyanis, Elizabeth Taylor, Mani Kaul and Chintha Ravi will be presented in the Remembrance section. Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai and Kakkanadan are also included in the section. The 75 years of Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times will be remembered. TIFF will pay tribute to Mullanezhi and Mohan Raghavan who recently passed away.

The Country Focus section will have the films from France and Spain. The 5 films of V Shantharam will be presented in Nostalgia section. The Retrospective section will present the films of Carlo Sura and Nure Bilge Gelane. There will be films in sections like Current Malayalam Cinema, World Cinema and Indian Cinema. 'Abohomen' by Rituparna Ghosh, 'Angaditheru' by Vasantha Balan and Gautam Ghosh's 'Moner Manush' are the main attraction of Indian Cinema section.
There will be seminar on the topic 'Cinema and History' with prominent film personalities.
