Kerala
is the first Indian state to have recognised Tourism as an industry. The leap Kerala has made in the tourism field is commendable. Now the Kerala government has come with a new step to boost the tourism domain that's been having a tough time due to global recession. The
Kerala Tourism
is partnering up with Zapak, the largest gaming company in India, to launch an interactive online game project based on the tourism centers in Kerala. It is being developed to reveal the tourism destinations in the state to the gamers.
The game is like a treasure hunt. It will have an apparent hand drawn map of Kerala with the markings of the prominent tourism destinations in the state. As the gamer moves, he can understand the tourism centres correctly. He will have the facility to use different types of transportation to travel in the state like taxi car, tourist bus, rented motorcycle or boats. As the traveller reaches a location, there will be a treasure namely 'God's Own Treasure' to be discoverered. The treasures are hidden at places like temple, church, mosque, historic place, beach or wild life sanctuary or national park.
The implementation of photography mode helps the gamer to click away in a destination. "Our gaming initiative is going to be another first in the country in tapping the vibes of the generation next and drawing them to explore new tourist spots. Besides being an exciting game, learning about new places and cultures will be the value addition for them." said TK Manoj Kumar, the Secretary of Kerala Tourism. It will be a huge hit among the tourism and gaming domains. There will be the link of Google map of the location at each tourism destination in the game. The
Zapak
or www.zapak.com is the largest online gaming venture in India and one of the largest of its kind in the world. It has got a strength of over 7.5 million registered users. The new venture will be huge leap for both Zapak and Kerala Tourism.
