Mammootty and Mohanlal Facebook fan pages on close race

Malayalam super stars Mammootty and Mohanlal are having a close competition on Facebook. The fan pages of both the actors are in a close race on amount of fans. Both the fan pages have more than 1.25 lakhs fans now and adding more to it. Read more below.

Mammootty on Facebook glows with 1.2 lakh fans

It seems that there is a competition between Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal even on internet. The star wars, if it can be called so, are not a unfamiliar thing in the cinema industry. From Mollywood, it extents to the Khans in Bollywood. Usually the stars are not interested in this and keep friendship among themselves though, most of their fans think otherwise. If it was offline earlier, now the primary battleground has been changed to the social networking websites, especially Facebook.

Facebook, the world's largest social network which boasts of nearly 8 million users, has got the presence of fans of all the cine stars. Almost all of the young stars in Malayalam cinema have the fan pages on Facebook as well.

Prithviraj, Asif Ali, Kunchako Boban, Jayasurya and Indrajith have strong presence on Facebook. But as usual, eclipsing all these statistics, the mega stars Mohanlal and Mammootty are those from Mollywood with the strongest fan presence on Facebook as well. There are numerous pages in their name. But two of them are far ahead of other pages in number of fans. These Mammootty and Mohanlal fan pages have now over 1.25 lakhs likes.

While Mammootty page is cited as his official page, Mohanlal page is run by his fans. These pages update their fans with the latest news about their icons' new projects and trivia. But the thing that prompted to write this article is the recently seen close race between these pages and the subsequent fans reactions. Mammootty was the leading Malayalam celebrity on Facebook and the first actor to cross 1 lakh likes. Recently, some media gave the news that Mammootty is the most followed Malayalam celebrity in Facebook. But when this news got spreaded, Mohanlal fans also woke up.

Quite surprisingly, the Mohanlal fan page witnessed a boom in likes and accumulated 20,000 fans in 2 days. Now at the instant of writing this article, Mammootty fan page has nearly 1.30 lakhs fans and Mohanlal page has just short of 1.32 lakhs. Both fan pages are witnessing a good and close growth rate in the amount of 'like's.

Apart from just bringing news about the stars' films and honours, the pages also find time to commemmorate the legends and contributors of cinema and encourage charity activities. The healthy competition between these pages has brought a fresh excitement among the fans.
