Veli Lake is a popular picnic spot which was mainly for the locals, only in the recent days tourists have started coming in.

Veli Lake is located at about 7 kilometers from the city of Thiruvananthapuram the capital city of Kerala. The place where Veli Lake joins the Arabian Sea has been developed as a picnic spot, you just have to cross one floating bridge to reach the beach.

Recreational facilities at the Veli Lake

There are facilities at the village for adventure sports in the lagoon. There is an 18-acre waterfront park with a floating bridge which connects the village to the beach. The tourist village offers boating facilities like Pedal boats and paddleboats, they can be hired to explore the lagoon in a leisurely manner. If you are looking for a quick ride, speedboats are available for hire.

Landscaped Garden at the Veli Lake

The Veli Lake has a beautifully landscaped garden with beautiful sculptures and a hanging bridge. Veli lake coast is also well known for its mangrove thickets, one of the rarest you can find in the state.

You can also find Children's park, floating bridge to the island, a newly made floating restaurant, make Veli Lake a lively place in Thiruvananthapuram for the tourists. Kerala tourism department has aesthetically laid out pavements and placement of trees among lawns.

How to Reach The Veli Lake

You have to reach Thriuvananthapuram international airport or railway station. Then you can hire vehicles or get a bus which goes to the area. Since the new Kochuveli railway head is nearby the Lake has become easily accessible and with that well known to the tourists also.
