Filmmaker Diphan who made an impressive debut with 'Puthiya Mugham' starring Prithviraj in lead is gearing up for his next outing which feature Suresh Gopi and Anoop Menon in lead. Titled 'The Dolphins', this big budget movie revolves around a Thiruvananthapuram-based bar named Dolphin owned by Panayamuttam Sura. People who belong to highest class in the society keep a regular visit to the bar.
The movie zooms into the life of Sura, a commoner who progressively turned rich. After a wretched life, he emerged as a wealthy person and also becomes the owner of many pubs. During the progress of the story, Sura protects his family and takes revenge against those who turn against him. Suresh Gopi comes in a totally different get-up and speaks in Thiruvananthapuram slang.
Meghna Raj plays the female lead named Mridula. Scripted by Anoop Menon, this movie is gifted with the presence of Madhu, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Nadhu, Saiju Kurup, Indrans, Arusha, Shiju, Shaju, Anil Murali, Kalpana, Sona, Sadhiq, Jojo, Arun Sidharthan, Manu Raj and Mahesh who would be seen in prominent roles.
The movie is produced by M C Arun and Sudheep Karattu under the banner of Line of Colours. For the lyrics of Anoop Menon, the music is set by M Jayachandharan. Jithu Dhamodhar has stayed behind the camera as the cinematographer. An artificial bar set with a cost of Rs 40 lakhs prepared inside the Chithranjali studio which attracted even foreigners during the time of its shoot.
Anoop Menon would don a prominent role as a close friend of Panayamuttam Sura, the bar owner while they enjoy life at their best. Anoop Menon will also lend is voice for a song. Kalpana will be seen as Kochu Vava, wife of Sura. The movie creamed with humour completed its shooting with locations set at Thiruvananthapuram and Mumbai. The major highlight of the movie would be the remix of the evergreen hit song, 'O Mridule' from the 1982 film, Njan Ekananu'.
