Eden Gardens – Kolkata


Eden Gardens, the world famous ground established in 1864. Eden Gardens is the India's biggest cricket venue by its seating capacity. Eden Gargens have a seating capacity of 90,000. The first Test in Eden Gardens had held in 1934 between India and England, and the first One Day International (ODI) played was between India and Sri Lanka in 1987.

The stadium, Eden Gardens is located in the Binoy Badal Dinesh Bag(BBD Bag) near the State Secretariat and the High Court, Kolkata. Sporting floodlights and bowlers deliver from the High Court End or the Pavilion End of a pitch under curator Probir Mukherjee. Eden Gardens is known for its large and noisy crowds. It is said that "a cricketer's cricketing education is not complete till he has played in front of a packed Eden Gardens." The Headquarters of the Cricket Association of Bengal are also there at the Eden Gardens.
The B.C. Roy Club House, is the Club House of the stadium named after former Chief Minister of the State of West Bengal Dr. B. C. Roy.
Indian Premier League matches had played in Eden Gardens as the home venue for Kolkata Knight Riders owned by the Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. And also hosted the ICC Cricket World Cup in 1987 and 1996.

Feroz Shah Kotla – Delhi


Feroz Shah Kotla is located at Delhi and was established in 1883. This stadium was formerly known as Willingdon Pavilion which is run by Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA). The stadium named after Feroz Shah Tughlaq of the Tughlaq dynasty from the 14th century. The first official match was held on 10th November 1948 between India and West Indies. The seating capacity of the Feroz Shah Kotla is around 48,000. The stadium was designed by renowed architect and conservationist Mr Danish Siddiqui & Naval Khanna.

Anil Kumble took his 10 wickets in an innings on this ground Feroz Shah Kotla in 1999 against Pakistan. In 1983-84 Sunil Gavaskar had scored his 29th century from this ground to equal Bradman's long standing record for the highest number of hundreds in Test cricket. In addition to that in 2005-06, Sachin Tendulkar broke Gavaskar's record of most centuries with his 35th Test century in this venue.

It has the experience of previously hosted the 1987 and 1996 ICC Cricket World Cups.In 2008, the stadium has been the home venue of the Delhi Dare Devils of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Wankhede Stadium – Mumbai


Wankhede is a cricket stadium located in Mumbai. This Stadium established in 1974. The ground was built after disputes between the Cricket Club of India and Mumbai Cricket Association. Wankhede Stadium has a seating capacity of 45,000.

In 1978-79 series, the stadium has been witness to great innings like Gavaskar's 205 against the Windies and Kallicharran's 187 in the same game.And also in the Jubilee test in 1980, Ian Botham's century and 13 wickets in the Jubilee Test in 1980. Ravi Shastri's 6 sixes in an over off Baroda's Tilak Raj en route to the fastest double-hundred in first-class cricket were on this ground, Wankhede in 1984-85.

In 1975, the first Test in the ground was played between India and West Indies. The venue has played host to ICC Cricket World Cup 1987 and 1996.

M. A.Chidambaram Stadium - Chennai


M. A Chidambaram Stadium was established in 1916 and formerly known as Madras Cricket Club Ground or Chepauk Stadium. Commonly known as Chepauk. Later named as M. A Chidambaram Stadium after M.A Chidambaram, the former President of BCCI and the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. The seating capacity of the stadium is 50,000.

The first match was played on 10th February 1934. In this stadium, Indian Cricket Team won its very first Test victory in 1952 against England. Sunil Gavaskar notched up his record breaking 30th Test hundred on this ground in 1983-84. This stadium played as the home ground of the Tamil Nadu cricket team and also for IPL's Chennai Super Kings led by current Indian captain MS Dhoni.

Punjab Cricket Association Stadium was established in 1993. This stadium is popularly known as Mohali Stadium. The stadium having the seating capacity odf 30, 000. The First official match played in this stadium was in 1993, ODI between India and South Africa.In 1996 ICC CWC semi-final between Australia and West Indies , in which Australia beat the West Indies by five runs.

The light pillars has small height to avoid aircraft from the nearby airport colliding with the light pillars. This stadium is home to Punjab Team

Vidharba Cricket Association Stadium was established in 2008 with a seating capacity of 45,000. The first official match played in this stadium was in 2008, the fourth Test between India and Australia. Vidharba Cricket Association Stadium built with international standards with fully seated and has luxury suites and has a design similar to Australian cricket grounds.

Sardar Patel Stadium was established in 1982 with a seating capacity of 48,000. This stadium is also known as Motera located on the banks of the Sabarmati River on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.

The venue has witnessed Sunil Gavaskar's 10,000 Test runs against Pakistan in 1986-87, and Kapil Dev claiming his 432nd victim to break Richard Hadlee's record as leading Test wicket-taker.

M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was established in 1969 and originally named as Karnataka State Cricket Association Stadium and renamed after M Chinnaswamy, who was the president of the Indian board from 1977 until 1980. This stadium having the seating capacity of 50,000. This stadium hosted the ICC CWC mathches in 1987 and 1996 including the fierce CWC quarterfinal between India and Pakistan in March 1996.

R. Premadasa Stadium – Colombo


R. Premadasa Stadium was established in 1986and located in Sri Lanka. Originally the stadium was known as Khettarama Stadium and subsequently renamed after the former Sri Lanka president Ranasinghe Premadasa. R. Premadasa Stadium is the biggest stadium in the country and was built on swampland previously used by monks ferrying across to the Khettarama temple adjacent to the stadium. The stadium having the seating capacity of 35,000.

This is one of the new stadiums in Sri Lanka established in November 2009 with a seating capacity of 25,000. This stadium is commonly known as Muttiah Muralitharan International Cricket Stadium. This stadium hosted an U19 match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, during the tri-series in late 2009.The Pallekele stadium is located about a half-hour drive from Kandy.

Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Sooriyawewa, Hambantota


Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium was established in 2010 with a capacity 35,000. This is being built exclusively for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

The first official match was held on 9 th December 2010 between Sri Lanka against West Indies. ICC CWC will host two matches in this venue.

Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium – Chittagong

Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium was established in 2004 with a seating capacity 25,000. This stadium is also known as Chittagong Divsional Stadium and previously known as Bir Shrestha Shahid Ruhul Amin Stadium. Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium situated about half-an-hour outside the city centre. Attraction of this stadium is spectators can enjoy both cricket and breathtaking beauty of the Bay of Bengal simultaneously for the wonderful location of the stadium.

Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium – Dhaka


Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium was established in 2006 with a seating capacity of 25,000. The stadium was named after AK Fazlul Haque - the country's renowned leader. The stadium will host the opening ceremony of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

The first official match played in this stadium was the ODI in December 2006, between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. The ground hosted its first Test in May 2007 between Bangladesh and India.
