The International Cricket Council has banned tweeting during world cup matches. The ban covers players, coaches and team managers. According to ICC, this step is taken to prevent possible corruption. The ICC move is in accordance with a suggestion by its Anti-corruption and Security Unit.

As per ICC directive, players, team mangers and coaches can't use social networking site twitter on their phones during matches. Since players can't do this as they are on the field, ICC's new rule is aimed at managers and coaches. But players, managers and coaches can use twitter before and after matches.

It seems that ICC is determined to crack down on illegal betting syndicates. ICC had banned three Pakistani players earlier this month on spot-fixing charges. World cricket's apex body hopes that this would serve as a deterrent.
