A lot of changes have taken place in the number of constituencies in malappuram. Here is the details of the all constituencies in malappuram district.

Wandoor


Panchayaths/municipality: Mampad, Thiruvali, Wandoor, Chokkad, Kalikavu, Karuvarakkundu, Thuvoor, Porur.
Total Voters: 179632

Wandoor is the constituency in Kerala with maximum number of voters. Wandoor is also holding the record of maximum number of female voters in Kerala. The total number of femle voters in Wndoor is 93404. UDF won this seat in the last two assembly elections with a lead of 28225 votes in 2001 and 17161 in 2006

Nilambur


Panchayaths/municipality: Vazhikkadavu, Moothedam, Edakkara, Pothukallu, Chungathara, Nilambur, Karulayi, Amarambalam.
Total Voters: 172545

Currently all panchayaths and municipality is under the rule of UDF. In 2001 UDF won by 21620 votes and by 18070 votes in 2006. Chaliyar, Chokad and Kalikavu has been shifted from Nilambur. This gives some hope to LDF to capture Nilambur.

Manjeri


Panchayaths/municipality: Thrikkalangode, Pandikkad, Manjeri Municipality, Keezhattur, Edappatta.
Total Voters: 162562

Earlier there were 8 panchayaths in Manjeri, but 4 of them shifted to another recently. In the last two assembly elections, UDF captured this constituency. In 2001 they won by 34526 votes and in 2006 they won by 15372 votes.

Malappuram


Panchayaths/municipality: Morayur, Pulpatta, Pookkottur, Malappuram Municipality, Anakkayam, Kodur.
Total Voters: 166747

UDF have full faith in Malappuram. Muslim league will be contesting in this constituency. All panchayaths and Municipality are ruled by muslim league. UDF had won the last two assembly elections in this constituency. In 2001, they won by 36071 votes and in 2006 they won by 30657 votes. In 2001 M K Muneer was elected from here.

Kondotty


Panchayaths/municipality: Vazhayoor, Vazhakkad, Cheekode, Pulikkal, Cherukavu, Kondotty, Nediyirupp.
Total Voters: 157394

Kondoty was formed in 1975. Since then UDF has won in this constituency. Currently all panchayaths are under the control of UDF. In the last two elections UDF won by 27093 and 14972 votes respectively.

Tirurangadi


Panchayaths/municipality: Parappanangadi, Tirurangadi, Nannambra, Thennala, Edarikkode, Perumanna Clari.
Total Voters: 151460

Tirurangadi always stand with Muslim league. 1n 1995 A K Antony was elected from this constituency. In 2001 UDF won by 19173 votes and 16123 votes in 2006 election. Currently all panchayaths are under the UDF rule.

Tanur


Panchayaths/municipality: Tanur, Ozhur, Ponmundam, Thanalur, Niramaruthur, Cheriyamundam
Total Voters: 136183

Muslim league has won all the assembly elections from this constituency. Earlier there were 11 panchayaths out of which only six are remaining under this constituency. In 2001 and 2001 UDF won by 27014 and 11170 votes respectively.

Tirur


Panchayaths/municipality: Valavannur, Kalpakancheri, Tirur Municipality, Vettom, Thalakkad, Thirunavaya, Athavanad.
Total Voters: 163753

In the last 50 years LDF has won only once in Tirur. They won by 8680 votes in the 2006 assembly election. In 2001, UDF had won by12759 votes. Currently, except one panchayath, all panchayaths are ruled by UDF.

Ponnani


Panchayaths/municipality: Ponnani, Marancheri, Alamkode, Nannamukku, Perumpadappu, Veliyamkode.
Total Voters: 154569

Past election results shows that Ponnani stands with both LDF and UDF. In 2006, LDF candidate, Paloli Muhammed was elected from Ponnani. He had secured a margin of 28347 votes. In 2001, UDF had won by 6607 votes. LDF is expecting that they can capture Ponnani back easily in the coming election.

Mankada


Panchayaths/municipality: Koottilangadi, Mankada, Makkaraparamba, Kuruva, Puzhakkattiri, Angadippuram, Moorkkanadu.
Total Voters: 193046

Mannalam Kuzhi Ali was elected from Mankada in the last election by defeating the prestige leader of Muslim league, M K Muneer. But later Ali shifted to UDF. So this time everyone is eagerly waiting for the result of Mankada Constituency. In 2001, UDF won by 3058 votes.

Perinthalmanna


Panchayaths/municipality: Melattur, Vettathur, Perinthalmanna Municipality, Thazhekode, Aliparambu, Pulamanthol, Elamkulam.
Total Voters: 161685

LDF candidate V Sasikumar won this constituency in the 2006 election. Since 1970, this constituency was under the control of Muslim League. In 2001 had won by 5906 votes and in 2006 LDF clinched this constituency with a margin of 140003 votes.

Eranad


Panchayaths/municipality: Keezhuparamba, Urngattiri, Chaliyar, Edavanna, Kavannur, Areacode, Kuzhimanna.
Total Voters: 141083

This is a new constituency. All the five panchayaths are taken from the Manjeri constituency. Currently all panchayaths are under the control of UDF.

Vengara


Panchayaths/municipality: Abrurahiman Nagar, Kannamangalam, OOrakam, Vengara, Parappur, Othukkungal.
Total Voters: 143167

Vengara is also a newly formed constituency. Most of the panchayaths are taken from the Malappuram Constituency. All panchayaths are under the control of UDF

Kottakkal


Panchayaths/municipality: Kottakkal, Ponmala, Marakkara, Edayur, Valancheri, Irimpiliyam, Kuttippuram.
Total Voters: 166570

Kottakal is also a newly formed constituency. It is formed from Kuttipuram, Mankada and Malappuram. The major portion belongs to the Kuttipuram constituency. K T Jaleel had defeated P K Kunhalikutty in the 2006 assembly election from kuttipuram.

Thavanur


Panchayaths/municipality: Mangalam, Thriprangode, Thavanur, Kalady, Vattamkulam, Edappal, Purathur.
Total Voters: 154568

Thavanur is a newly formed constituency. In panchayath elections, UDF had secured a margin of 7829 votes.

Vallikkunnu


Panchayaths/municipality: Chelembra, Pallikkal, Peruvallur, Thenhipalam, Vallikkunnu, Munniyur.
Total Voters: 155100

Vallikunnu is formed from Kondotty and Thiruangadi constituencies. All panchayaths are under the control of UDF. UDF had secured a margin of 16442 votes in the panchayath elections.
