The latest news regarding Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is that its security has been changed from three-tier to a five-tier system. The decision to upgrade the security system of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple was taken in a meeting chaired by Oommen Chandy, chief minister of Kerala state, India. The expected cost of the upgraded security that included seismographic-linked alarm system, X-ray scanners, metal detectors, hidden cameras & satellite surveillance is Rs 40 crore.
There would be most modern security gadgets in the new five-tier security system. This high tech security system was approved taking into account all possible dangers like sabotage, theft & natural disasters. The committee is also considering installing sophisticated locks & alarms at the vaults. Also note that the selected windows, doors& ventilators of this temple will be fortified with impact resistant glass & steel bars. Apart from this decision, the meeting decided to ask the state run Centre for Earth Science studies to conduct a probe for the network of underground tunnels that exists in & around the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
