Read Supreme Court Verdict on Padmanabhaswamy Temple Vault B. Supreme Court ordered the government not to open the vault B of Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple. Supreme court told that this issue will be considered only after the proper documentation of the treasure found from the other five chambers of the temple.
Supreme court told that the opening of vault B will be considered only after the proper documentation, categorization, security, preservation and conservation of the one lakh crore treasure recovered from the other five chambers of the temple. The Supreme court also directed that the security of the temple and the cost for the same has under the charge of the Kerala government. They also added that the state government has to ensure the temple traditions, customs and practices are respected.
The digitisation of the information of the treasure will be entrusted to the state-owned electronic undertaking Keltron. The court also declined the committee's decision to hand over the security of the treasure to a central paramilitary force.
The court had appointed a five - member panel as the committee to supervise the recovery and preservation of the treasure of the temple. The committee is directed by the Director General of National Museum C V Ananda Bose and consists of representatives of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI). These committee had told the court on last Friday not to open the vault B of the temple until security measure were not in place.
