The Model Engineering College (MEC) started in 1989. This college is affiliated to Cochin University of Science And Technology. The college constantly got top ranked in various surveys taken among all Engineering colleges located in Kerala. To take this college to next level they have signed MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Wipro Software Company. This college also provides technical sponsorships, faculty development programs, student workshops and quality education to all students. They have implemented the Grid computing in labs. Wi-Fi facility is available inside the campus. All the systems are installed with good learning software, so all the students are getting benefits by learning it. They also maintaining separate e-learning site which consist of some basic tutorial technical books.

The hostel consists of 3 floors. Each floor capable of accommodate up to 80 people. The hostel consists of a Gym, Badminton court, Volley Ball court, Football ground. Functions in hostel are organized by the hostel committee people. Menu will be decided by this hostel committee people and this will be review periodically and will be alter depends upon the committee people.
