Kandahar upcoming Malayalam Movie written and directed by Major Ravi Starring Mohan lal and Amitab bachan in the lead is set to release on 16th December . The movie is based on the 1999 December 24 Kandahar flight Hijack and the rescue operation followed

Kandahar upcoming Malayalam Movie written and directed by Major Ravi and Starring Mohanlal in the lead. Mohanlal is part in the production as well and the movie is hitting the theaters on 16th December. The approximate production cost of the movie is Around 6.5 corers INR.
It is Major Ravi's third movie with Malayalam Super star Mohanlal and his fourth movie, previous ventures being Kurukshetra and Keerthi Chakra, among the two movie Keethichakra went on to bee come a huge hit in Kerala, but the response to the second movie was bit down compared to the first one. But Kandahar seem to break all the Box office records.

Story line
Mohanlal and Major Ravi is uniting once again for a movie in the same genre, like both of their previous ventures Kandahar also belongs to the Category of War movies. Mohan lal playing the role of Major Mahadevan in this Movie, the basic plot in this movie is 1999 December 24 Kandahar Air craft hijack. The movie based on the rescue operation after the plane hijack even though rescue operation was actually a failure, but major Ravi's Kandahar is not about the failed mission of 1999 December 24, but according major Ravi he has just taken the basic plot for the movie from that incident and is not exactly like actual incident.

Amithab Bachan is doing the role of the character played by Ganesh Venkatraman who is the second lead role in the movie. Many other names were in the news for the Character of Ganesh, prominenet among them being Tamil star Surya and Arjun, who all cited dates conflict and it was finalised ganesh to d the role of the second lead

Miss india world 2008, Miss world runner up in 2008 and Malayalee Prvathi Omanakkutam is portraying a major Role in the movie

Sound Design is another attraction of the movie done by Baylon Fonseca, who are famous for their work in the Hindi Movies Rang de Basanthi(2006), Rock on(2008) and Krrish(2006).
There are 4 songs in the movie each sung by Sonu Nigan Kailash Ghere, MG Sree kumar and Sunidhi Chauhan . Three of the Song is in Hindi and the one song sung by MG Sreekumar in Malayalam
There is News of Hindi movie star Sunil Shetty playing a the role of Militant in the movie, the news is not yet confirmed
Veteran Actror Sumalatha is returning to Malayalam Industry through this Movie, who is married to the actor turned politician Ambarish
