After the grand success of 'Pranchiyettan and the Saint' staring Mammotty in the lead, Ranjith who gave a break to the Young Icon Prithviraj through classical entertainer Nandanam after the duo movie Thirakadha comes together for another project titled as 'Indian Rupee'. As the title suggests the movie 'Indian Rupee' tries to visualize what money can do in life. Jayaprakash/JP (Prithviraj) and CH (Tini Tom) are two real estate brokers who work for Rayinka. JP dreams high and search for real break in life. But CH likes to make earning to fulfill his day to day needs. JP shares dreams with his lover Dr.Beena (Rima Kallingal) who used to be his companion to share happiness and sorrows. Surendran(Lalu Alex) brother of Dr.Beena stood by the side of JP while he need support. After the entry of Achutha Menon(Thilakan) what happened to the life of Jayaprakash is plotted in the rest of the movie.

Indian Rupee is movie from the hands of experienced director Ranjith who always created movies which carries all the emotions of a normal individual. In this movie to he tries to portrait how life is being diverted when money takes the key role. Prithviraj who had done a strong character role in Vaasthavam, the role he plays JP in Indian Rupee too reminds the mighty he created during these years. Prithviraj had performed well in the movie. The highlight of the movie was the presence of Thilakan, 'the real actor' who created waves with his artistic performance. Indian Rupee tries to plot the contemporary life structure which is mixed with tears and happiness. To some extend we have to appreciate director Ranjith for his artistic intelligence merged accordingly to keep the movie above average. The performance of the real actor Thilakan really add colours to the over all package of the movie. Even though the movie stays above average, the performance in the theater depends upon the first day collection. Any way the movie gives what the audience expects.
