She is a popular movie actress in the Malayalam movie industry. Apart from Malayalam flicks, she has also acted in Tamil, Kannada and Telugu films. She has been active in the South Indian movie industry since 1991. Over the period of over two decades, she has acted in 38 Malayalam language flicks.
Early Life
Charmila was born to a Malayalam-speaking Syrian Catholic family settled in Chennai. Her father Manoharan is a Veterinary doctor who was working with State Bank of India and mother Haise is a homemaker. She has a younger sister whose name is Angelina. She had her elementary schooling from a reputed school near her place of residence in Chennai city. Later young Charmila joined Holy Angels Convent for her secondary and higher secondary education. She passed the higher secondary examination with flying colours. She got her degree from Ethiraj College for Women in Chennai city. 
Career in Entertainment Industry
Since her school days, young Charmila used to take part in various stage performances at school level. She continued her rendezvous with the dais, even while she was in a degree college. Her stage performances won her several accolades and appreciations from the general public. In one such stage performances, she was able to impress the authorities from Vijay TV. Thus she got an offer to host a show by the name Jillunu Oru Sandhppu on Vijay TV. Her maiden show drew lots of positive responses from ordinary Tamil viewers. Riding on the success of her maiden show, she started accepting more offers from Television entertainment industry with more confidence. The other notable program in which she featured was Jodi Number One. Incidentally, this program was also aired by the same Vijay TV that gave her the initial break.Early Career as an Actress in Mollywood
Since Charmila was based in Chennai, she was first picked up by the Tamil movie directors after they happened to see her local performances in the city. The young Charmila made her acting debut in Tamil film industry with the movie Oyilattam. Though flick failed to make a mark at the Box Office, the young actress' acting effort was noticed by other Tamil filmmakers. That is the reason why she got a couple of movies, including Kizhakke Varum Pattu. After seeing her work in Kollywood, the ace film director Sibi Malayil decided to give her a break in the industry. Thus, she featured for the first time in a Malayalam movie Dhanam directed by him. In this flick, she acted opposite to the megastar Mohanlal. The other Malayalam films acted by her include Uncle Bun, Priyapettu Kukku, Keli, Kabooliwala, Daada, Kadal, Kambolam, Special Squad, Peter Scott, Thriumanassu, Rajadhani, Arabia, Killikurushiyile Kudumba Mela, Gajaraja Manthram, Manikya Koodaram, Adivaram, Kulirkattu, Arjunan Pillayum Anchu Makkalum, Kakki Naksthathram, Jagathy Jagatheesh in Town, etc. Later Career as Actress in Mollywood
Since 2002, Charmila had acted only in few Malayalam movies. Many of them were mediocre flicks. The worth mentioning films in which she featured include Nirapakittu, Madhuram, Youth Festival, Sundari Pravu, etc. During this period of inaction in Mollywood, the actress concentrated primarily on Tamil movie industry. The Tamil film in which she acted include Manase Maunama, Mahaan Kanakku, Unnai Kan Theduthe, Naan, Oru Mazhai Naangu Saaral, etc. Apart from these, she also had acted in few Kannada and Telugu language flicks. After a period of 9 years, she again came back to Mollywood and featured in the flick Vikramadithyan. In this movie, she acted alongside Dulquer Salmaan, Namita Pramod, Anoop Menon and Unni Mukundan. This film was directed by another ace director of Mollywood by the name Lal Jose. This film did reasonably well in the industry, giving her much needed reprieve to re-launch her career in her parent state.
Personal Life
In between the active participation in the film industry, she got divorced from her husband Rajesh and raises her child Adonis Jude as a single parent. Whenever she is out of the town due to her acting commitments, her child is looked after by her parents in Chennai.Conclusion
