Andrea Jeremiah was born on December 21, 2015 into an Anglo-Indian Roman Catholic family settled in Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu. Her father is a lawyer at the Chennai High Court and her mother is a homemaker. She has a younger sister who works as a research assistant at Leuven, Belgium. Though, Andrea Jeremiah was born in Arakkonam, she was raised in Chennai as her father worked there. After completing her elementary education, she was put in Sacred Heart Matriculation Higher Secondary School for the rest of her higher secondary education. She completed her 10th class with flying colours. Later, she joined the Women's Christian College for her higher studies. Three years later, young Andrea completed her graduation from the same institute with good grades. During her academic years, the young lady wanted to become a clinical psychologist.
In her earlier days, Andrea Jeremiah learned how to play piano. Under the tutelage of her parents, she learned to play Western classical music on piano. When she was initiated into music, the young Andrea Jeremiah was only 8 years old. By the time she was 10 years old, the young girl had become a part of the Jackson Five-style troupe called Young Stars. It was on this platform she perfected the singing skills. While working with the same troupe, she even learned about the art of music composition. She was also a theatre artist in her college days. She worked in several stage plays under the aegis of The Madras Players and EVAM. Since she was associated with the theatre, Andrea Jeremiah knew the predicaments of artists. Hence, she organized a company The Show Must Go On to promote live arts, which in turn promoted the artistes in national forums. She never aspired for a profession of acting as a child or youngster. So, she had declined many offers that came in her way to act in films.
Career as a Singer
Since her childhood, young Andrea Jeremiah was focused on sharpening her singing and music composing skills. This she told a number of occasions later. She told that her first love is always music and that she became an actor only by chance. She got an offer to sing for movies in 2005. Since then, the multi-talented young lady has sung for several music composers in the South Indian film industry. They include Yuvan Shankar Raja, G.V. Prakash Kumar, Devi Sri Prasad and Harris Jayaraj. Some of the songs rendered by her become so popular that they were nominated at the Filmfare and Vijay Awards. When one scribe asked which song was challenging for her, the young lady told him that rendering the song 'Maalai Neram' was more challenging.
Career as a Music Composer
Andrea Jeremiah has developed the art of music composition while working with the theatre group The Madras Players. Her stint as a singer who has sung various numbers gave her the moral boost to try out her own music composition. Her works such as 'Soul of Taramani' show how talented she is as a music composer. In fact, the talented actress has composed, wrote and sang this song. This song was conceptualized as a promo for her Tamil romantic-drama Taramani. Apart from this, she has done several music themes, song and albums.
Career as an Actress
Young Andrea Jeremiah began her acting her career in theatre with a Kannada play written by noted playwright Girish Karnad. The name of the play was Nagamandala. Her real breakthrough in the world of cinema came when noted Tamil movie director Gautham Menon gave her a leading role in his next flick Pachaikili Muthucharam. The director seems to have observed closely the young Andrea in her previous work in the film Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyadu. Her maiden movie was a filmy adaptation of a James Siegel's novel Derailed. In this flick, the upcoming actress did the role of a homemaker whose husband has engaged in a love affair with another girl. She has also worked in the fantasy-adventure flick Aayirathil Oruvan, multi-starrer Mankatha, etc. The young actress made her acting debut in the Malayalam movie industry with the flick Annayum Rasoolum. According to the actress, her maiden movie in Malayalam was her best film till date. She has also appeared in the Kamal Haasan-starrer movie Vishwaroopam. She is going to re-appear in its sequel as well sometime in the year 2015. Other Tamil films in which she acted include Puthiya Thiruppangal, Endrendrum Punnagai, etc. Her other Malayalam movies include London Bridge and Loham.
Andrea Jeremiah has acted in Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil movies. She is also a good dancer, singer and a music composer. The young actress has picked up the art of singing and composing songs when she was with Young Stars, the Jackson Five-styled music troupe in Chennai. During her college days, she was also associated with The Madras Players and EVAM as a theatre artist. Many of the plays in which she featured were well appreciated by the creative audience of the country. In fact, the young Andrea started her career in acting with play Nagamandala written by noted Kannada writer Girish Karnad. After that, she appeared in other Malayalam movies such as London Bridge and Loham. In the third Malayalam flick Loham, the actress is acting opposite to the megastar Mohanlal.
