Mullaperiyar - What is the real Dam issue?
What is good for others depend on our perception of others. Unfortunately we who are supposed to be Indians are not Indians but are Malayalees, Tamilians, Kannadigas, Marattis, Gujarathees, Bengalees etc. In fact there are some regional parties which feel that there should be a system of passport for other state people to come to their state. Under such circumstances it is difficult to come to a conclusion as to what is proper. According to me there should be an expert committee to assess the available water sources, the populations, arable land etc and then decide the quantity of water to be shard between the riparian states. There should be a minimum quantity of water of the rivers which should be allowed to flow into the oceans/seas as otherwise the water of the ocean will also dry over a period of time. The Center should also try to link all the rivers of the country to make the distribution of available water properly. There should also be regulation of adjustment of the water to be distributed during drought periods. These being long distance dreams we have to content with the present system of fighting with each other as each side can see only on the basis of their own needs and not n the needs of the opposite party/parties.

Mullaperiyar - What is the real Dam issue?
Thanks to editor/s for suggestion which changed the article greatly.

Thank you Sri Nikhil Rajagoplan.

Mistake: Under the heading 'The Tamil Nad has presented its case strongly' the sentence 'The politicians whoever may have been in power of opposition' is having a mistake. the word 'of' in between the words power and opposition should be 'or' and no of.

How can I make subtitles bold?
The best thing is to go through the guidelines which will clear a major portion of our doubts. The rest can be discussed to get the clarifications.

As to making the sub titles bold you may follow the html tag for the same. In the help topics html heading is there. In the html topic there are 4 headings. The last is basic html tags. This contains the tags for bold headlines.

Cheraman Juma Masjid-The oldest mosque in India
One thing to be noted in the conversion to Islam religion is the force, violence, destruction and loot in most of the parts in India. But the conversion of the Cheraman Perumal is only on the basis of conviction of ideas and voluntary. The Perumal was a powerful force internationally having trade and business relations with several European and Arab countries. There was no physical compulsion for him to convert. The whole affair was so smooth and his way of propagating the religion was smooth. Probably at that time the Prophet himself was present and those responsible for propagation were direct disciples who had the opportunity of understanding the essence of the religion directly, without any corruption by the intermediaries, from the Prophet himself.

Cheraman Juma Masjid-The oldest mosque in India
Since publishing the article I came across some special features about the Juma Masjid of Kodungallur. One specialty is that a slab of marble from Mecca and fixed inside the Mosque. Another rare phenomenon is that in this Mosque Vidyarambam is done by the non Muslim devotees to their children on the Vijayadasami day as in case of Hindu children in Hindu temples.

Gold treasures unearthed from Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Thiruvananthapuram
Congratulation for the nice article on the treasure of Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple, Thiruvananthapuram. The article is testimony for the effort taken by the author in collecting an enormous amount of information from various sources. She has gone even into the minute details as to the health hazard of the persons involved in the inventory and the precautions taken to take care of this aspect, the security aspect and the standby arrangements to meet any eventuality on this task.

The author has touched all aspects of the treasure and she has also given a brief sketch about the temple itself with the necessary details for any intending visitor to that place. Of course as usual she has presented this matter also in an attractive and presentable manner. This article will catch the attention of those who search for the treasure of the temple.

Sree Vilwadrinathaswami Temple, Tiruvilwamala
A very good description of the Thiruvilwamala temple. I was planning to go over to the temple since about 5-6 years. Due to some reason or other it was not possible. This time in April on 16th I went there. I reached after 11.30 am. The temple was already closed. Since I went alone, I decided to go there with family on some other occassion and returned without being able to pray.

Why the result of Kerala Election, 2011 has come the way it has come?
Mr Raj, I am sorry if I have hurt any other person. I have no intention to hurt anyone. I am fully aware that I am nowhere near to Mr V S Achuthanandan in terms of the contribution made by to the country, state, society and for the movement of the Communism in India at a time when the very name of Communism and communist are treated worse than today's terrorists.

In my schooldays, I had the opportunity to witness the movement by several persons like E M S Nampoodidripad, Paryanampatta Nampoodidri, Vallathol Kumaran and many other activists of various level of the leadership of communism. During those days, Mr Achuthanandan has also struggled hard to propagate communism. I understand that he was jailed many times and he had gone on underground to avoid arrest at other times like many others. He was also brutally assaulted by the authorities along with all who worked for Communism.

I have not stated about Unnikrishnan to denigrate the then C M, the present opposition leader. Mr Achuthanandan was the Chief Minister at that time. A Chief Minister should have some control over himself. Mr Unnikrishnan, Sandeep's father is an ordinary man with only one child who was lost while fighting to protect the lives of Mumbai people, in the terrorists attacks in Mumbai. So the C M should be a little more civil especially when media is covering the incident.

I am only analising the result of the elections and in my way pointing out the undue credit being given to an individual, especially in relation to a communist organisation. As my understanding, the communist movement does not rely on individual/s but on the organisation. I have observed in the earlier days, if the LDF made any person as its candidate in its stronghold, even canvassing may not be required. From that position the situation has changed to that of putting up a Muslim candidate in Muslim stonghold, Christian candidate in Christian area and particular community candidate where that particular community is predominant.

If the analysis is not proper, covering all aspects, against the mistake like whether Achuthanandan or Pinarayi or x, y z is effective and not to depend on the organisation, the organisation will continue to live in a fool's paradise and do harm to the organisation.

Vadakkumnathan Temple in Thrissur
Ms Lakshmi ramdas has given a very vivid picture of the Vadakkunathan temple of Thrissur.

It is to be noted that the Thrissur pooram is considered as a festival of the Vadkkunnathan temple though the active participants are Paramekkav and Thiruvambadi along with other temples. This is because the main items of the pooram are performed within the premises of Vadakkunnathan temple. The Pooram festival as it is performed is devised by the Saktan Thampuran.

There is also a gossip or information that the major part of the thekkinkadu maidan was a thekkin kaadu (forest of Teak trees). It was cleared by the Rama Varma Kunhjipilla Thampuran/Rama Varma IX popularly known as the Sakthan Thampuran (Sakthan meaning powerful), inspite of the opposition from those connected by the temple.

I have given a brief detail of the procedures of dharshan at Vadakkunnathan temple in my thread 'Proceedures of Darshans at Vadakkunnathan Temple, Thrissur'.

Significance of Vishu
Ms Lakshmi Ramdas has prepared a lucid article on Vishu. Thanks for the same. It will give a clear idea as to what vishu is.
I would like to mention a point or two on this subject. First point is a doubt of mine. It is about vishu meaning 'equal parts'. According to my understanding equal parts comes 2 times a year. Equal parats of day and night comes when the sun is on equator. That happens on 13th or 14th of April Mesha Samkaramanam and at Thula Samkramam - during the mid week of October. I am saying this from my presumption that when earth revolve on its own axis and around the sun, sun's position changes from North to South and from South to North with respect to the earth. That means the sun's position with respct to the earth falls 2 times when Utharayana and Dakshinayana starts.

According to me Vishu means the time of Sun's transition from Meena to Mesha.

Anopther point is that during some of the years, Vishu (new year) and vishukani (seeing good things) hppens sepeately as is in the present year. This year Vishu is on 14th April during day time and Kani is to be seen on the 15th morning.

I also feels that the mirror (Kannadi) is kept behind the uruli in such a way that when we look at the kannadi, we may be able to see all the items kept for the kani in the uruli with their images and our reflected image also.

Fake World Cup Trophy Lifted by Indian Team
It is a shocking news indeed that India was given fake World Cup trophy after the magnificent win. Extreme Super moon in India 19 March 2011
About the possibilities of calamities like earthquake or tsunami, because of the super moon, I feel that the nature has placed the earth, moon and all other planets in their respective positions with a margin space for erratic movements of the planets. As long as the planets do not move out of the margin limit (the movements are also fixed by the nature so chances of crossing margin is little), there may not be any calamity. However, I feel that the moon has some influence at least in respect of the waves. There fore it could have been possible that the waves could have been higher than the usual once.

Extreme Super moon in India 19 March 2011
According to me preemption the unusual phenomena of the appearance of the moon with larger size may be due to the following factor: The planets are having movements in different ways depending upon the planet concerned. The Sun rotates on its fixed axis. It does not move from its position. The earth moves on its own axis and it also circles the sun. The moon rotates on its axis and also circles around the earth. The earth is on its axis with a slight tilt. The moon‘s circling of earth will have differences in the distance between earth and moon because of the tilt. When the moon comes near tilt it will appear to be bigger. It is natural for any object to look bigger when it is nearer and smaller when it is away. Since the moon is slightly erratic in its rotations, the phenomena may come once in a while instead of any regularity.

Since the matter is abstract, am not proficient in language, I am not sure whether I could explain my point clearly.

Keraleeyan in and out of Kerala
I fully agree with Sri T M Sankaran that in every society there are good and bad people and should not make generalisation. There may be a small percentage of variations from place to place. I might have made the observation based on the few unfriendly responses. In fact after reflection on reading the comment of Sri T M Sankaran, I realise that a large majority of people I interacted were good.
I regret for the stamen t made by me.
